Strong Maoist party will lead to good governance: Prachanda

Kanchanpur, December 28 — Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal "Prachanda," stated that if the Maoist party becomes strong and the number one party in the country, a new era of good governance will begin.

He made these remarks while addressing a rally against corruption and mismanagement, and for party unity in the Punarbas area of Kanchanpur district.

Chairman Prachanda claimed that only the Maoist government takes action on corruption cases, saying, "Only when we become the number one party will corruption end in the country. I believe this government has engaged in so much corruption. Corrupt individuals will not be left free. Corruption involving Giribandhu Tea Estate, the fake Bhutanese refugees scam, and the Wide-Body aircraft purchase will not be left unchecked. To combat this, it is crucial to strengthen the Maoist Centre. Once the Maoist Centre becomes stronger, a new era of good governance will begin, and the process of chasing away the corrupt will start."

Praising his government’s work on governance, social justice, and prosperity, Prachanda also criticized the moneylenders who exploit the publicthrough predatory lending. He mentioned that the current government is more aligned with corruption than fighting it.

He further explained that due to his government's efforts, there is a wave of unity and integration within the Maoist Centre across the country. Prachanda welcomed leaders and activists from other parties, including UML and Congress, to join the Maoist Centre.

He added, "There is a wave of unification within the Maoist party across the country. I am heading to Jhapa soon. Thousands are preparing to join in the area of Prime Minister KP Oli's constituency."

In his speech, Prachanda emphasized his commitment to the development of the Far Western region, sharing that during his visit to India, he had openly discussed border issues, including problems in Kanchanpur, Lipulekh, and Kalapani, with the Indian Prime Minister.

He mentioned various development initiatives, such as the establishment of Far Western University, the construction of the Mid-Hill and Hulaki highways, and the development of a 400 kV internal transmission line in Kailali.

Prachanda also highlighted his efforts in promoting agriculture and local industries, advancing the Seti Project in the electricity sector, and pushing for the construction of a stadium in the region due to the popularity of cricket among the youth. He also spoke about his attempts to bring the Pancheswar Project to fruition and expressed disappointment that the government collapsed during the process.

Additionally, Prachanda noted that the opening of the China border will aid in the economic development of the Far Western region. He shared that an agreement has been made with China to build a road in Humla, with the project moving forward.
