KATHMANDU, July 24: The hearing on the writ against the Koshi Provincial Government has started in the Supreme Court. The hearing started at 12:30 pm in the joint bench of Supreme Court Justices Sushmalata Mathema and Til Prasad Shrestha on Monday.

A writ petition was filed in the Supreme Court on July 7 on behalf of former Chief Minister and UML Parliamentary Party leader Hikmat Kumar Karki, alleging that Congress Parliamentary Party leader Uddhav Thapa was unconstitutionally appointed Chief Minister.

Karki filed a writ petition against the Provincial Chief Parshuram Khapung, Chief Minister Thapa, and Speaker Baburam Gautam, saying that the signature of Speaker Gautam was also used for the formation of the government. In the writ petition, Karki has also requested the order to appoint himself as the Chief Minister.
