Two people including TIA customs office officer suspended
KATHMANDU, July 21: To investigate the case of the smuggling of around a quintal of gold, the customs department has suspended two of the employees of the Tribhuwan International Airport customs office.
Director General of Customs Department Shobhakanta Paudel told Ratopati that customs check pass Officer Ramesh Chand and checker Kumar Dhakal have been suspended. The Department of Revenue Investigation has arrested and investigated 10 people, including a Chinese national, on the charge of smuggling gold that came to Kathmandu from Cathay Pacific Airlines.
The customs department has formed an inquiry committee to investigate the involvement of the staff of the customs office. A team led by Man Bahadur Paudel, director of the investigation branch of the customs department, is investigating the matter.
Director Paudel informed that Customs agent Yadav Parajuli has also been suspended for investigation.
