57 more peaks opened for climbing in Nepal

Kathmandu, January 7 — An additional 57 peaks in Nepal have been opened for climbing.

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation published a notice in the Nepal Gazette on Monday announcing the opening of these climbs.

According to the notice issued by Ministry Secretary Krishna Hari Puskar, the climbing of these peaks has been opened under Subsection 1 of Rule 2 of the Mountaineering Expedition Regulations, 2002.

Earlier, the government had decided to open these peaks for climbing in October. These peaks, ranging from 6,000 to 6,500 meters in height, were recommended for permission by the Deparment of Tourism in the previous month of June.

Prior to this, there were 419 peaks open for climbing in Nepal. With the latest addition, the total number of permitted peaks has now reached 476.
