Janardan Sharma proposes high-level commission to investigate party leaders' assets

Kathmandu, January 7 — CPN (Maoist Centre) Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma has proposed the formation of a high-level commission to investigate the assets of party leaders, including office-bearers.

During the party’s central committee meeting held in Dhumbarahi on Tuesday, Sharma made the proposal while commenting on Chairman Prachanda’s report, as shared by a party leader with Ratopati.

Sharma expressed his support for Prachanda’s report, as it called for moving toward a new revolutionary path. He also found the focus on returning to the class-based approach to be positive.

Furthermore, Sharma emphasized the need to be accountable to the people and review where the party went wrong after the constitution was promulgated.

He stated, “Let’s form a high-level commission to investigate the assets of party officials. Let’s free ourselves from rumors. This is not about removing the chairman; it is about generating discussion. Since the constitution was adopted, we have been stuck in the quagmire of capitalism. We need to review where we went wrong.”

Sharma also outlined four foundations for party building: unity with those believing in Maoist ideology, representation of Dalit women, opportunities for youth, and synthesis of ideas.
