NA organizes three international marathon competitions

 

 

Malekhu (Dhading) - The Nepalese Army has organized three international standard marathons among various adventure sports. These marathons were held from Baireni up to Jogimara in Dhading district on July 1. 


The three marathons comprise 6.1 kilometres running, 26 kilometres cycling and 11 kilometres rafting. These marathons come under the various adventure sports events that the Army has been organizing. 


A total of 48 athletes including those from the Tribhuvan Army Club, the American Army, the Bangladesh Army, British Gurkhas, the Armed Police Force, Himalayan Gloss and various sports clubs from Kathmandu participated in the competition. 


The team of Sergeant Man Bahadur Thapa of the Tribhuvan Army Club won in the competition. Thapa's team completed the three marathons covering a distance of 43.1 kilometres in two hours 18 minutes and 1 second. 


Similarly, the team of Himal Tamata from Kathmandu Bike Station came out second completing the marathon clocking 2 hours 27 minutes 47 seconds while the team of Rajendra Chemjong of Tribhuvan Army Club came out third by clocking 2 hours 28 minutes 25 seconds. 


The team coming out first received cash prize of Rs 150 thousand, shield and certificates; the team coming out second cash prize of Rs 100 thousand and certificates and the team coming out third received Rs 75 thousand and certificates.
