FNJ condemns defamation against journalist Dhungana

Kathmandu–The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has drawn serious attention towards the incident of embarrassment against FNJ Achham chapter's Deputy-Secretary and correspondent of Kantipur Daily, Menaka Dhungana. Dhungana was hurled derogatory and defamatory words in social networking sites by Bal Dhami for posting a news in her media.

The news was about tearing the paper of the tender called by Chaupati Rural Municipality for the construction of two school buildings in the locality. Dhami had taken to social networking sites to abash Menuka using derogatory words.

FNJ, releasing a press statement today, condemned Dhami's act terming it a condemnable act and said he could have opted for legal recourse instead.

The act of Dhami was intended to defame the journalist, observed FNJ. The umbrella organization of the journalists in the country has demanded action against the perpetrator and urged for attention from the concerned agency not to let such incidents recur in future.
