27, mostly children, drown to death in Mahottari in FY 2018/19

Mahottari–The total 27 people were killed after drowning in the district in the fiscal year of 2018/19, and children between the age group of 10 months and 12 years dominate the figure, according to the district police office.

Of those who were drowned to death, seven were killed in flooding caused by rains last week. Of the dead, 12 were drowned in ponds, said Superintendent of Police Shyam Adhikari.

Negligence of parents is main cause of the children having drowned to death in the above cases, he said.
