500 flood-hit animals rescued and vaccinated

Kathmandu–More than 500 animals affected by flooding in Rautahat, Bara and Saptari districts have been rescued and vaccinated against possible epidemic.

The Snehas Care, an animal care center, and the Nepal Veterinary Association jointly took an effort in this regard.

Only humans are taken care of in times of disasters, but animals are left neglected, said Sneha Shrestha, chairperson of the Care, adding that they took this initiative by reaching out for them in various districts.

Rescue efforts for the animals hit by the disaster are on by reaching out for them in the incident sites alongside necessary medicines, said Dr Shital Kaji Shrestha, chairperson of the Association.

A total of 14 teams from both the Center and Association have been assigned for the rescue works in various flood-hit Tarai districts, said the Centre.
