Teaching and learning of 'Folklore Science' begins

Surkhet–The teaching and learning of 'Folklore Science' has begun in Mid-West (Madhyapaschim) University in Karnali State, Surkhet The University has launched the teaching and learning of 'folklore science', first of its kind in Nepal, under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Khopiram Lamsal, Dean of the Faculty, said the subject will be taught for two years in four semesters. "It has made us feel proud", said Lamsal, adding that the teaching and learning of the folklore will not only have the fundamental culture, heritage and civilization researched but also explored existing folklore, social trust, art, literature, festivals, religions and cultural traditions.

 

"Karnali is a multi-lingual, multi-cultural and multi-religious diverse state", he said, adding that the objective of the teaching and learning is to explore history, archeology and culture and identify, protect, preserve and promote folklores. ---
