Food Quality Department Takes Action Against Hotels and Water Industries in Janakpurdham

Dhanusha. The Department of Food Technology and Quality Control has conducted on-site inspections and taken action against various hotels and water industries in Janakpurdham.

Following complaints of serious impact on food hygiene and consumer health, the Janakpurdham office under the department conducted an inspection on August 5. The department has taken action and given directives to three businesses in accordance with the Food Hygiene and Quality Act, 2081.

During the inspection, it was found that Energetic Kegon Water Industry located in Janakpurdham-8 was operating against standards. The industry had obtained a recommendation to produce purified drinking water. However, it was found to be selling and distributing 'Alkaline Water' in 20-liter jars.

Furthermore, it has also changed the name of the industry to 'Miracle Water Industry', the department stated. The department has currently instructed not to sell and distribute the alkaline water produced by that industry. It has also been asked to appear at the office with all documents.

Similarly, the team also inspected Shri Hotel Mithila Chirayu located in Janakpurdham-10. There, a lack of cleanliness was observed, and newspapers stamped with ink were found to be in direct contact with food. The department has instructed the hotel to pay attention to cleanliness and not to use newspapers in contact with food.

The condition of Saurabh Khaau Khaau Chaat Shop in Janakpurdham-4 was also found to be similar. In this shop too, newspapers with ink in direct contact with food were used, and a lack of cleanliness was found. In addition, the inspection team also found that cooked food was not kept at a safe temperature.

All businesses have been instructed to maintain standards according to the new Food Hygiene and Quality Act.
