Man Arrested with NPR 450,000 Cash and E-cycle in Biratnagar

Biratnagar. One person has been arrested from Biratnagar with NPR 450,000 cash and an e-cycle whose source could not be disclosed. Police have started an investigation on suspicion that the seized amount may be related to illegal Hundi transactions.

The arrested person is Shyam Prasad Sah, 34, of Biratnagar Metropolitan City-6. According to Morang Police Information Officer DSP Makendra Kumar Mishra, Sah was arrested on Sunday at around 2 PM from the Nepal-India border area, Materwawa, Biratnagar-17.

When a team deployed from the temporary police post Materwawa suspected Sah, who was coming from India to Nepal on an e-cycle, and checked him, a total of NPR 450,000 was recovered from his possession, consisting of 450 notes of Nepali currency in denominations of 1,000.

As Sah could not disclose the legal source of the amount, he has been taken into custody along with the cash and e-cycle, the police said. Sah has been kept at the Area Police Office, Rani, for investigation. Police, under the leadership of Inspector Praveen Ghimire, are further investigating the source of the money, the purpose of bringing it to Nepal, and its connection with possible illegal financial transactions.
