Bus Service to Cancer Hospital to Facilitate Patients

Nepalgunj. A city bus will be operated from Samjhana Chowk of Baijanath Rural Municipality in Banke to Sushil Koirala Cancer Hospital in Khajura. At the request of the Cancer Hospital, Bagheshwori Yatayat Pvt. Ltd. will operate a city bus to reach the hospital to facilitate the movement of cancer patients.

An agreement was reached today between Dr. Niraj Bhattarai, Executive Director of the Cancer Hospital, and Manaprasad Acharya, Chairman of Bagheshwori Yatayat Pvt. Ltd., regarding the operation of a 40 km city bus, informed Shobhakhar Poudel, Co-Treasurer of the Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs National Federation.

Chairman Acharya of the private company said that the bus is being operated at the request of the hospital to solve the problems faced by patients from remote villages in reaching the hospital due to lack of transport and to facilitate the patients. He stated that in the first phase, two buses will be operated from Samjhana Chowk to the gate of the Cancer Hospital, and services can be added later based on patient load and needs.

Executive Director Dr. Bhattarai of the hospital said that the operation of the city bus will make it easier for patients who get confused by not finding direct transport to the hospital.

According to Chairman Acharya, the city bus, which will be operated from next week, has set service charges of Rs 40 from Khajura to Nepalgunj, Rs 50 to Ranjha Chowk, Rs 100 to Kohalpur, and Rs 125 to Samjhana Chowk.

Patients coming to Khajura Cancer Hospital for cancer treatment from various districts of Karnali, Sudurpaschim, and Lumbini provinces were facing problems due to not finding transport to reach the hospital.
