Nepal and Sichuan Province Discuss Cultural and Tourism Promotion

Kathmandu. Stakeholders have said that Nepal and China's Sichuan province should move forward hand in hand in promoting culture and tourism. Speakers at the China (Sichuan)-Nepal Cultural and Tourism Industry Exchange Forum organized by the Sichuan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism here on Thursday emphasized the need to promote tourism by exchanging art, culture, and tourism between the two countries.

Chen Guanghao, Director of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism of China, said that Sichuan and Nepal should move forward by coordinating and cooperating in the exchange of art and culture and the promotion of tourism.

"Nepal is a country with high potential for mountain range and trekking tourism. Therefore, it is time for us to move forward by cooperating in the exchange of art and culture and the promotion of tourism," he said, "Sichuan province can be reached from Nepal in just three hours. We also request you to visit Sichuan as it has tourist attractions like mountain ranges and pandas."

Director Guanghao said that in 2025, 1.19 billion domestic tourists visited Sichuan. "We also request you to visit Sichuan as it has hilly terrain and beautiful mountain ranges," he said.

Chhabindra Parajuli, Director General of the Department of Information and Broadcasting, said that while maintaining friendly relations between Nepal and China, cultural and economic exchanges should also be carried out between the two countries. "We request the Chinese government and private sectors to promote investment in various sectors of Nepal, including tourism," he said, "As Nepal has abundant tourism potential, I invite Chinese tourists to visit Nepal."

Dr. Ram Kumar Phuyal, former member of the National Planning Commission, urged to expand the cultural exchange between Nepal and China to other sectors. "I call for bringing Chinese investment into Nepal's energy, industries, and factories," he said, "As there are areas with abundant investment potential in Nepal, you can invest with confidence."

He also requested investment in Nepal's tourism sector as well as visits. Sun Changcheu, representative of Sichuan Airlines Nepal, said that Sichuan Airlines has been providing quality and affordable service and is preparing to fly with Airbus in the near future. Stakeholders from the tourism sectors of both countries have requested visits to both countries to provide information about the areas with tourism potential in their respective countries.
