Students Protest Government Decision on Public Service Appointments

Kathmandu. Students preparing for public service have protested the government's latest decision in Maitighar. They have come to protest demanding the repeal of clause number 11 of the decision made by the Chief Secretary level meeting on July 20. The clause states that approval from the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers' Office must be obtained to fill any public service position. Earlier, a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Govinda Bahadur Karki had decided not to create new vacancies without the approval of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers' Office. According to the 22-point decision signed by Chief Secretary Karki, no government office can create new vacancies in the current fiscal year without the approval of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers' Office. The meeting also decided not to fill temporary positions in the current fiscal year and not to send requests to the Public Service Commission for permanent appointments without the approval of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers' Office. It is this decision that has affected the regular advertisements and appointment process of the Public Service Commission, leading to protests from examinees who were preparing for it.
