Bagmati Province Government Leadership Determined by Numbers, Says Minister Madhusudan Poudel

Makwanpur. Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Forest and Environment Madhusudan Poudel said that the leadership of the upcoming Bagmati government will be determined by numbers. He said that the upcoming government will be formed by the CPN (UML) or CPN from the left alliance.

According to him, if UML leads the government, whoever can gather the numbers among the total MPs will lead the government. He said that there is no problem in UML regarding the party leader or the government.

Reviewing the one-year collaboration with the Congress, Minister Poudel said that although there were some disagreements on certain issues, the overall tenure was pleasant. Speaking about the upcoming government's equation, he claimed that the possibility of forming a new government is now 50-50.

"We will also consult with RPP and other parties for a new equation," he said. "Minister Poudel also clarified that UML is not in favor of increasing the number of ministries. In the past, I myself was the coordinator of the task force and reduced the number of ministries. We are not in favor of increasing the number of ministries. Rather, we are in favor of working effectively with fewer ministries."

According to him, the UML ministers participating in the provincial government are preparing to submit their collective resignation. He said that with the change in the power equation at the center, UML has decided to withdraw from the Bagmati Province government and withdraw its support to the Chief Minister.

Minister Poudel said that they are leaving the government as per the central directive of the party. Minister Poudel said that Chief Minister Indrabahadur Baniyan is in a program in Chitwan, and they will submit their resignation after he returns.

"We tried to contact the Chief Minister, he was in a program in Chitwan. After he returns, we will collectively submit our resignation and withdraw our support." he said.

The government formed in collaboration with the Nepali Congress since Shrawan 20, 2082, included 6 ministers from UML. With UML's exit, the race for a new government has now begun in Bagmati Province.
