Heavy Rainfall Expected Across Nepal Due to Active Monsoon

Kathmandu. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated that the monsoon system is expected to become more active from Saturday night. The department has indicated that there is a possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall in most parts of the country due to the influence of monsoon winds.

Meteorologist at the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Binu Maharjan, stated that moderate to heavy rainfall occurred in most places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces in the last 24 hours. She mentioned that moderate to heavy rainfall is possible in many places in the hilly regions and some places in the Himalayas and Terai until Saturday.

She noted that areas with the possibility of heavy rainfall (especially in the hilly regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali) may experience landslides, and the flow of water in rivers and streams may increase, so caution should be exercised.

She also advised to check the weather and road conditions and travel only after obtaining updated weather information when undertaking long-distance journeys or before setting out on a trip.
