KP Sharma Oli Claims Crown Prince Dipendra Did Not Commit Narayanhiti Palace Massacre

Kathmandu. Former Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli has claimed that Crown Prince Dipendra Shah did not commit the Narayanhiti Palace massacre on Jestha 19, 2058, which resulted in the destruction of King Birendra Shah's dynasty. He made such a claim while speaking at a program organized at the party office in Chyasal, Lalitpur. Oli stated that the widely spread story that Dipendra committed the palace massacre, destroying his entire family including his parents and siblings, and then committed suicide by shooting himself, has no truth. He said that a 'readymade' story linking the palace massacre to Dipendra's love affair was spread globally. Chairman Oli mentioned that the truth about who committed the palace massacre has still not been revealed, stating, 'The palace massacre happened on Jestha 19, 2058. As soon as the palace massacre occurred, a rumor spread globally, that so-and-so had a love affair, and this happened because of that love.' He further added, 'A readymade story was spread globally that Crown Prince Dipendra destroyed his father, mother, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, and the entire dynasty, and then committed suicide. That false information reigned for two decades. The true information is still unknown.' Oli said that no one knows who the creator of this story, prepared without study, is. He said, 'Who is the original narrator of that story? That is also unknown. But a story was created and narrated. It spread globally all at once.' He expressed surprise that even major global media outlets did not show interest in understanding the facts of such a major incident. He added, 'Major global media outlets did not consider it necessary to understand or show interest in such a huge incident. Rather, why they found it necessary to carry that same rumor is also a strange thing. In reality, that information is not correct.' Chairman Oli commented that the story that the palace massacre happened due to Dipendra's failed love was created by those involved in this conspiracy.
