Negotiations Underway Between Loan Shark Victims' Committee and Government

Kathmandu. Decisive talks are underway between the Meter Interest Victims Struggle Committee and the government. It is said that preparations are being made to reach an understanding to address the victims' demands in the talks that started in Singha Durbar shortly. Talks were also held between the government and the victims' leaders on Thursday night. The government, which stopped the meter interest victims who started a march from Janakpur on Asar 25 towards Kathmandu, at Nijgadh in Bara, had the Home Minister Sudhan Gurung initiate the talks. The cabinet meeting on Thursday itself had formed a talks team to resolve the problem. After that, the leaders of the struggle committee came to Kathmandu from Bara on Thursday itself.

The talks include Secretary of the Council of Ministers Pushkar Sapkota, along with joint secretaries from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Land, and Ministry of Finance. On behalf of the meter interest victims, the struggle committee's Kisan Mazdoor Andolan Nepal Chairman Awadhesh Kushwaha, General Secretary Manoj Paswan, Spokesperson Rizan Rana Magar, Secretariat Members Kiran Pariyar and Laxmi Ghimire, and Nirg Navin of Sanyukta Janadhikar Nepal are participating.
