Flood Alert Issued for Melamchi and Surrounding Areas Due to Heavy Rainfall

Kathmandu. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has requested to take high alert in Melamchi and surrounding areas of Sindhupalchok due to heavy rainfall. 

Issuing a special notice on Thursday evening at 8:30 PM, the department has urged residents of coastal and hilly areas to be vigilant.

The department has stated that moderate to heavy rainfall has been occurring in Dhap, Gobre, Melamchi and surrounding areas of Sindhupalchok for the last three hours. There is a possibility of further rainfall in that area.

Due to continuous rainfall, the risk of floods in riverine areas and landslides on steep slopes has increased. The department has made a special appeal to all those living in riverbanks and landslide-prone areas to take necessary preparations and precautions.
