Congress to End Alliance with UML in Lumbini Province

Butwal. Political activities have intensified in Lumbini Province after the central decision of the Nepali Congress to end the power-sharing with the CPN-UML in all seven provinces. 

Congress Parliamentary Party leader Dillibahadur Chaudhary has called a meeting in Dang today at 3 PM to discuss with the Congress ministers participating in the UML-led Lumbini Province government. Ministers, chief whip, and whip participating in the government will attend the meeting.

After the central decision, the meeting will discuss what strategy Congress will adopt in Lumbini, whether to withdraw its ministers from the government or move towards a new power equation. Among the five ministers participating in the government from Congress, three were in Kathmandu yesterday and are going to Dang to attend the meeting.

Chief whip of Congress, Jamuna Dhakal, informed that the meeting will discuss how to proceed in the province according to the central directive.

Currently, in the UML-led Lumbini Province government, Saroj Thapa, Minister for Urban Development and Drinking Water, Dhanendra Karki, Minister for Economic Affairs, Prachandavikram Neupane, Minister for Industry, Tourism, and Transport, Janmajaya Timilsena, Minister for Social Development, and Devkaran Kalwar, Minister for Forest and Environment, are participating from Congress.

After the center decided to end the power-sharing with the UML, interest has increased in the political circles regarding the future of the government and new power equations in Lumbini Province. It is expected that the decision on whether Congress will withdraw its ministers from the provincial government or move forward through a new political equation will become clearer after today's discussion.
