Bagmati Province Government Sees Six UML Ministers Resign After Central Alliance Collapse

Hetauda. After the power-sharing between the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML broke at the central level, ministers from UML will withdraw from the Bagmati Province government. Following the change in the power equation at the central level, six ministers from UML will withdraw from the Bagmati government. 

The UML ministers are preparing to resign after the cabinet meeting to be held at 4 PM. On Thursday, through a press conference, Health Minister and UML leader Kiran Thapa Magar stated that preparations are underway to submit resignations after the cabinet meeting.

With the change in the power equation at the top level, Chief Minister Indrabahadur Baniyan is preparing to ask for resignations from the UML ministers. Accordingly, the UML ministers are also preparing to resign and pave the way for the formation of a new government or cabinet, he said.

“In the current situation, our power equation has been finalized from the center. Now a new government or cabinet needs to be formed. Therefore, UML has made preparations to pave the way,” he said, “The current situation does not allow us to remain in the government. We have to facilitate the work for a new power equation. Therefore, six ministers from UML will resign after today's cabinet meeting.”

According to him, UML was in a position to withdraw all ministers for the management of the Bagmati government's cabinet today. UML had prepared to send new ministers according to the distribution of 8 ministries after withdrawing all ministers. However, with the change in the alliance itself, UML has reached a situation of separating from the government as per the party's directive, he said. All ministers have made preparations accordingly, he stated.

In the government, from UML, including Health Minister Thapa, are Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development Madhusudan Poudel, Minister of Physical Infrastructure Development Dr. Dineshchandra Devkota, Minister of Labor, Employment and Transport Jayaram Thapa, Minister of Forest and Environment Bharatbahadur KC, and Minister of Industry, Commerce, Land and Administration Bindu Shrestha.
