Kirtipur Holding Center Flooded After Heavy Rainfall

Kathmandu. The Kirtipur holding center where the government had kept the landless removed from various places in Kathmandu has been submerged. The area became waterlogged due to last night's rain. 

The victims have accused the government and security personnel of not providing any help even as they were submerged in water all night. 

'They removed us from the riverbank and brought us to the river itself. Does the government see our condition with your black glasses?' the victims said. Security personnel were deployed only in the morning for their rescue. 

The team rescued 54 out of 154 people in the holding center and safely transferred them to Smriti Bhawan at Tribhuvan University. Another 6 people have gone to stay with relatives or in nearby hostels, while 94 people, refusing to go elsewhere, are staying in a safe place inside the center where water has not entered.
