Two arrested with illegal wood charcoal in Kathmandu

Kathmandu. District Police Complex Kathmandu has taken two people and a truck under control with a large quantity of wood charcoal. The police apprehended them on Tuesday evening at Nagdhunga checkpoint in Chandragiri Municipality Ward No. 2 of Kathmandu District. A police team deployed from Nagdhunga Police Post stopped and checked the truck, Ba Pra 01-007 Kha 0592, which was coming from Kapilvastu towards Kathmandu. During the inspection of the truck, 6 tons 950 kg of illegal wood charcoal being transported without permission was found, the police said. The market value of the seized charcoal is estimated to be around 5 lakh 56 thousand rupees. Police have taken under control 36-year-old Shivraj Chaudhary, a resident of Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City Ward No. 7 in Dang District, and 26-year-old Kamal Kishor Kewat, a resident of Bijay Rural Municipality Ward No. 3 in Kapilvastu District, along with the illegal charcoal. District Police Complex Kathmandu Spokesperson and Information Officer, Police Superintendent Pawan Kumar Bhattarai informed that both individuals, along with the truck used for transporting the charcoal, have been sent to the District Forest Office for necessary legal action.
