Flood Risk Bulletin Issued for Various Districts

Kathmandu. The Flood Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a bulletin urging caution due to the risk of sudden floods in small rivers flowing through various districts of the country.

According to measurements taken by the division this morning, the flow in Koshi, Narayani, Bagmati, Karnali, Mahakali and their tributaries, as well as in the Kankai, Kamala, Babai, Eastern Rapti and Western Rapti rivers, is currently below the alert level.

Although the situation in the major rivers is normal, the flow in small rivers and streams is expected to increase. According to the flood forecasting bulletin, the flow in small rivers flowing through Ilam, Jhapa, Tehrathum, Panchthar, Dhankuta, Saptari, Sunsari, Morang, Doti, Dadeldhura and surrounding districts is estimated to increase significantly today.

The division has stated that there is a moderate risk of sudden floods in these areas. Similarly, a possibility of moderate risk of sudden floods in some small rivers flowing through Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Dolakha, Sindhupalchok, Nawalparasi (West), Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Dang, Banke, Bardiya and surrounding districts has been indicated.

The division has also released a two-day forecast. According to this, the flow in small rivers flowing through Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Sudurpashchim Province may increase suddenly tomorrow. Similarly, there is a possibility of sudden increase in the flow of small rivers flowing through Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces the day after tomorrow, necessitating increased vigilance for residents in and around riverine areas.
