One Dead, One Injured in Rautahat Knife Attack Over Land Dispute

Rautahat. One person has died in a knife attack during a land dispute in Auraiya, Ishnath Municipality-3, Rautahat. One elderly person was injured in the incident.  

According to Rautahat District Police Office spokesperson Basanta Gautam, around 8:15 last night, a verbal altercation occurred between local 80-year-old Rambahadur Sah, his 60-year-old son-in-law Butan Sah, and 63-year-old Ramautar Sah and his 26-year-old son Rammeshwor Sah over an old land dispute.

As the dispute escalated, a scuffle ensued, and during that time, Rammeshwor Sah attacked Butan Sah with a knife, the police said. Butan Sah, who sustained serious injuries to his back, was immediately taken to Provincial Hospital, Gaur. Doctors declared him dead around 9:05 last night during treatment.

Rambahadur Sah was injured with a head injury in the incident. His treatment is ongoing at a local medical facility, and his health condition is normal, the police said.

Following the incident, the police have taken into custody the accused of the knife attack, Rammeshwor Sah, and his father Ramautar Sah, who was involved in the quarrel. The district police have stated that further investigation into the incident is underway after collecting necessary evidence from the scene.

According to locals, the incident occurred due to an old land dispute, according to preliminary findings. The police have stated that an investigation into all aspects of the incident is ongoing.
