Constitutional Council Recommends New Election Commissioners

Kathmandu. The Constitutional Council has decided to recommend a Chief Election Commissioner and two commissioners for the vacant posts in the Election Commission.

The council meeting held at the Prime Minister's Office, Singh Durbar on Friday decided to recommend Man Bahadur Karki as the Chief Election Commissioner and Guru Prasad Wagle and Rajib Subba for the vacant posts of commissioners in the commission.

In the meeting, the leader of the main opposition Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party, Bhishma Raj Angdembe, objected to the direct recommendation of the proposed individuals without any discussion.

He suggested to the Prime Minister that the process of recommendation should be advanced only after sufficient discussion on the proposed individuals in the coming days.

Angdembe also suggested to the Prime Minister to end the state of communication breakdown with the opposition party and continue the discussion.
