Pokhara Honours Six Youths with Youth Excellence Award

Kaski. Six youths have been honored with the 'Pokhara Youth Excellence Award' on the occasion of 'Youth Festival-2083' organized by the Pokhara Metropolitan City Youth Council today.

The youths who have made significant contributions in the fields of entrepreneurship and innovation for job creation, journalism, tourism, sports, social service, and disability rights have been honored.

This year, Durga Ranmagar was honored in the field of journalism, Pratik Pahari in tourism, Sadis Pun in social service, Navjyoti Subedi in youth entrepreneurship, innovation, and job creation, Narayani Bhandari in sports, and Sandhya Subedi in the empowerment of the disability sector. They were honored by the Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City, Dhanraj Acharya, with a certificate, award, and shawl.

Mayor Acharya stated that the role of youth is crucial in developing Pokhara as a city of opportunities. "The metropolis is committed to institutionally promoting the creative thinking, innovative concepts, and social responsibility of the youth. It is the need of the hour to create an environment where youth not only seek employment but also create employment," said Mayor Acharya.

According to Santosh Neupane, Executive Vice-Chairman of the City Youth Council, the talents were selected based on recommendations, contributions, impact, and achievements received from various fields for the award. He said that the award is not just limited to honor but is a means to further encourage youth who are bringing positive change in society.

The selection of this year's honored individuals was made based on the recommendation of the Talent Selection Committee formed under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Bhimnath Baral. The committee included Tej Gurung, Manohar Kadariya, Keshavsharan Lamichhane, Anju KC, and Bikram Karmacharya as members. The council stated that the committee evaluated the contributions, leadership qualities, innovation, social impact, and inspirational roles played by individuals in their respective fields to recommend the final names.

For the past few years, the City Youth Council has been conducting various programs focused on youth, including skill development, leadership development, entrepreneurship promotion, self-employment, innovation, and social empowerment.

According to the council, more than seven thousand youths have participated in various skill-based training, entrepreneurship development, employment orientation, and capacity-building programs so far. The council has stated that these programs have also helped many youths to engage in self-employment and business.
