Five Arrested in Rupandehi for Gold Chain Snatching

Bhairahawa. Police have arrested five people involved in snatching gold chains from women's necks in various places in Rupandehi, along with the stolen gold chains.

According to Rupandehi District Police Office Information Officer and Deputy Superintendent of Police Krishnakumar Chand, joint teams from the District Police Office and subordinate police offices arrested them during the investigation of separate incidents.

According to the police, on Wednesday, Vikas Rai, 25, of Shivpura, Baragadhi Rural Municipality-3, Bara, who snatched a gold chain with a Ganesha idol pendant from a woman's neck at Suryapura Haat Bazaar in Gaidaha Rural Municipality-6, taking advantage of the crowd, was arrested by a team from Suryapura Area Police Office.

Police said that a gold chain weighing 10 grams and 830 milligrams was recovered from his possession. He has been sent to Lumbini Area Police Office for further investigation.

Similarly, on Asar 10, in Chandni Marg, Tilottama Municipality-4, Rupandehi, a person on a motorcycle snatched a gold chain from a woman walking on the road and fled. During the investigation of the incident, a team from Butwal Area Police Office arrested four more people.

Those arrested include Rahul Jaiswal, 32, a resident of Gorakhpur, India, Prince Jaiswal, 22, a resident of Maharajganj, India, Niteshkumar Gupta, 30, a resident of Bihar, India, and Pradip Kandu, 32, a resident of Siddharthanagar Municipality-5, Rupandehi.

According to the police, a gold chain weighing 22.22 grams, another gold chain weighing nine grams, and a motorcycle with number Lu57P 2432 were recovered from the arrested individuals.

Police said that further investigation is underway on all five arrested individuals. The Rupandehi District Police Office has stated that an investigation is being carried out into whether they were involved in other snatching incidents.
