Monsoon Intensifies Across Nepal, Heavy Rainfall Expected

Kathmandu. The influence of monsoon winds is strengthening in various parts of the country. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the monsoon wind has become fully active in the entire land area of Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati provinces, some parts of Gandaki province, and the eastern region of Lumbini province. In the remaining areas, the partial influence of western and local winds persists. According to the Department, there is a strong possibility of monsoon expanding to the remaining parts of Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, and the entire land area of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces within the next two to three days. Looking at the current weather conditions across the country, it is generally cloudy in Koshi and Madhesh provinces, as well as in the hilly and Himalayan regions of the country, while there is partial cloudiness in the Terai regions. Currently, light to moderate rainfall is occurring in a few places in Koshi, Bagmati, and Lumbini provinces, and in one or two places in Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. On Monday, the sky across the country is expected to be generally cloudy. Similarly, there is a possibility of thunderstorms and lightning with moderate rainfall and snowfall in many places in the hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and in some places in the hilly and Himalayan regions of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. In some places in the Terai regions of the country, there is also a possibility of thunderstorms and lightning with moderate rainfall. The Department has mentioned that there is a risk of heavy rainfall in one or two places in the hilly and Terai land areas of Koshi province in particular. In addition, meteorologists have urged to take necessary precautions as there is a possibility of storms in some places in the Terai and Madhesh provinces of Koshi province.
