Bhimraj Angdembe Emphasizes Need for Collective Commitment to Agricultural Development

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party leader Bhimraj Angdembe has expressed best wishes on the occasion of National Paddy Day and the festival of eating curd and chiura 2083, emphasizing the need for a common commitment to the development of the agricultural sector and the resolution of farmers' problems.

Wishing happiness, peace, prosperity, and good health to all Nepalis residing in the country and abroad, he stated that Asar 15 holds a special connection with Nepal's agriculture, culture, and daily life.

He mentioned that paddy is not only Nepal's major food grain but also the backbone of the rural economy and an integral part of Nepali civilization. Leader Angdembe highlighted that increasing investment in the agricultural sector, use of modern technology, quality seeds and saplings, adequate fertilizers, reliable irrigation, and ensuring markets for agricultural produce are essential needs of the present time.

He clarified that it is necessary to make farmer-friendly policies, production-oriented agricultural systems, and state investment in the agricultural sector more effective for the effective implementation of the citizen's right to food guaranteed by the Constitution of Nepal. He stated that farmers are still suffering from problems such as not getting timely access to fertilizer, seeds, irrigation, and fair prices for their produce, and that climate change has created further challenges in agriculture.

Angdembe pointed out that to face these challenges, it is crucial to effectively implement agricultural research, development of climate-friendly technology, agricultural insurance, and production-based incentive programs. Expressing concern over the increasing import of paddy and rice year after year, he said, 'There is a need for a common commitment among all political parties, the government, and concerned bodies to end the situation of fertile agricultural land remaining fallow, attract the younger generation to the agricultural sector, develop agriculture as a respected and profitable profession, and become self-reliant in food grains by increasing production and productivity.'

He assured that the Nepali Congress is always committed to protecting the rights and interests of farmers, modernizing agriculture, ensuring food security, and promoting the sustainable development of agriculture.
