CPN UML Demands Release of Vice Chairman Bishnu Poudel and Apology from Prime Minister Balen Shah

Kathmandu. CPN UML has demanded the immediate release of party Vice Chairman Bishnu Poudel, stating he is innocent. Furthermore, UML has demanded that Prime Minister Balendra (Balen) Shah apologize for his statement regarding the border made on Jestha 17 and remove the statement from parliamentary records.

“The Prime Minister must apologize for such a treasonous statement. The controversial statement must be removed from the records,” said UML MP Pushparaj Kandel in Sunday’s House of Representatives meeting. “The government has arrested UML Vice Chairman Bishnu Poudel based on vindictiveness, and it is an attempt to intimidate all the opposition based on the accusation of providing vehicles in the last election. Moreover, the arrest is motivated by the objective of defaming UML.”

He stated that Bishnu Poudel is innocent and that the government is engaged in absolving criminals, and benefiting intermediaries by leaking information about tax rates. Vice Chairman Poudel was arrested by the police last week from Surkhet on charges of money laundering.
