Rastriya Swatantra Party Holds First National Convention in Chitwan

Bharatpur. The first historic national convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has started in Bharatpur, Chitwan from Sunday.

A final central committee meeting of the party was held at Diyalo Foodland in Bharatpur before the formal commencement of the convention.

In this final meeting held before the convention, party chairman Rabi Lamichhane addressed the current central committee with very emotional and insightful remarks. He described the attendees as faces filled with patriotism and beautiful aspirations, expressing his desire to collaborate in the future as well. 

During his address, Chairman Lamichhane explained the party's internal democracy as the most important cornerstone. He said, 'As the founding chairman, the extent to which I have played a role in strengthening internal democracy is a matter for your evaluation. However, for me, loyalty and internal democracy are not subjects for compromise.'

Chairman Lamichhane congratulated all elected members at the beginning of the meeting and pledged never to deviate from his commitment to democracy. The convention is expected to further strengthen internal democracy within the party. He also committed to adhering to these values and principles throughout his political life.

Discussing the country's current political system and achievements, Lamichhane recalled the federal democratic republic, the constitution, and the sacrifices and struggles made to reach this point. He said, 'We stand on the foundation of respect for yesterday's sacrifices, struggles, and efforts, and we are proud of it. Because of the height of yesterday's sacrifices, we are able to see such a broad view today.' 

It is informed that more than 3,000 representatives from across the country, party leaders, workers, and observers will participate in this convention, which will run for three days starting from Sunday.

Lamichhane's statement verbatim 

In the central committee meeting, before the meeting started, and to the incoming central committee tomorrow, standing at this threshold, I want to tell you all that these faces filled with beautiful aspirations, desires, enthusiasm, and patriotism are in front of me. I want to see, look at, and talk to all of you again even after being elected. First of all, I want to extend my best wishes to all of you. 

Another important thing is that internal democracy of the party is extremely important to us. As chairman, as founding chairman, the extent to which a role could be played or not played in strengthening internal democracy is a matter you have evaluated. But for me, loyalty and internal democracy are not subjects for compromise. I have made a commitment not to compromise on them ever, and I will strive to live up to that throughout my political life. 

Before I take leave, before the central committee meeting begins and for the central committee coming tomorrow, standing at this threshold, I want to tell you all that we stand on the foundation of respect for federal democratic republic, various changes, the country's constitution, the sacrifices, struggles, and efforts made to bring this country to this point, and we are proud of it. We stand at the threshold of this change with pride, and because we are standing on the shoulders of yesterday's sacrifices and struggles, we are not regretful, but rather we are able to see an even broader view.

Therefore, I want to tell you all with commitment again that we will never deviate from these values and principles and commitment to democracy, I will never deviate. I want to tell you this at the beginning of today's meeting. '
