Education Minister Pokharel Emphasizes Science, Technology, and Skilled Workforce for Agricultural Transformation

Kathmandu. Minister for Education and Sports, Sasmita Pokharel, has stated that science, technology, and skilled manpower are important for the basis of agricultural transformation. 

Addressing the fifth convocation ceremony of the Agriculture and Forestry University in Chitwan on Saturday, Minister Pokharel said that the agricultural sector is the main basis for the economic transformation of the country, therefore, emphasis should be placed on science, technology, and skilled manpower for its transformation.

Although it has been repeatedly emphasized that investment should be made in agriculture, the investment has not been made accordingly, so the new government to be formed will give special priority to the agricultural sector, he clarified. He also expressed his view that he would pay special attention to developing the Agriculture and Forestry University as a model university in coordination with other universities.

In this convocation ceremony, a total of two thousand 193 students have been graduated from the university. Among them, 1,836 students at the undergraduate level, 327 at the postgraduate level, and 30 students have obtained doctoral (PhD) degrees.
