Rastriya Swatantra Party Prepares for General Convention in Chitwan

Chitwan. The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has stated that preparations for its general convention have reached the final stage. According to RSP General Secretary Bhupadev Shah, the convention will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister and the party president by ringing a bell.

Explaining the reason for organizing the general convention in Chitwan, General Secretary Shah said, 'Chitwan is the birthplace of the party and the origin of the movement. Therefore, we have chosen Chitwan as per the prior plan that our first and biggest festival, the general convention, should be held here.' Regarding the change in the venue of the general convention, he said that after considering all aspects, it is being organized at the Guest House ground.

In response to a journalist's question about the neglected state of the nearby City Hall and the contractor's negligence, Shah said, 'This issue has already come to the attention of the entire country. The government has been alerted as to why the concerned bodies have not moved the work forward, and the concerned friends are looking into it.'

Providing information about the delegate selection process for the general convention, he said that the central committee will approve it after the delegate selection subcommittee finalizes its work. The party expects more than 3,000 delegates to come to Chitwan for the general convention.

Regarding the Prime Minister's presence, Shah said, 'The Prime Minister is preparing to come by managing his time for the official program. He will be present on the day of the inauguration and thereafter until the closed session.'

Speaking about leadership selection, General Secretary Shah said that efforts would be made for consensus as much as possible. 'The party has received immense love from the people and secured seats close to two-thirds, which was possible only by standing together. Therefore, efforts are being made for agreement to bring everyone with respect,' he added. 'If an agreement cannot be reached, capable friends will emerge through a democratic and competitive process, whom we will welcome.'

When asked about his candidacy, Shah indicated that he is thinking of continuing in the post of General Secretary. He said, 'As I am currently the General Secretary, I am contemplating continuing in this post. However, since the election code of conduct has already come into effect, I cannot say exactly. You will know my decision soon.'

A central committee meeting is also scheduled to be held in Chitwan on the eve of the general convention. Shah stated that the party considers this general convention an important opportunity to strengthen and empower the party.
