Rastriya Swatantra Party National Convention to Have Over 4,200 Delegates

Chitwan. The National Independent Party (RSP) will have more than 4,200 delegates for its general convention. According to preliminary data, the central secretariat has stated that there will be 4,210 delegates.

According to Shankar Shrestha, Secretary of the Organization Department of the Secretariat, the preliminary data shows 3,810 delegates. He informed that about 200 delegates will be added from the diaspora contact department from 25 countries.

According to the statute, the number of nominees by the chairman is 200. In addition to this, Shrestha said that some more may be added from those who join the party in groups.

The final list will be published after claims and objections, double entries, and omissions are included in the list prepared by this morning. The final list will be prepared by this evening after the name of the delegates that the chairman can nominate according to the statute is presented in the central committee meeting of the RSP today. According to preliminary data, the number of delegates from Koshi Province is 520.

He stated that 630 delegates from Madhesh, 790 from Bagmati, 490 from Lumbini, 470 from Gandaki, 360 from Karnali, and 550 from Sudurpaschim will participate in the general convention. The arrangement is that the Palika chairman, regional chairman and vice-chairman, district chairman along with five people, and all members of the provincial committee will be delegates.

Similarly, office bearers of the provincial department, disciplinary commission, and advisory council will be delegates. All central committee members of the federal leadership forum, 11 members each from the 38 departments at the center, and 11 members each from the central election commission, disciplinary commission, and accounts commission will be delegates.

There will be one delegate from each village municipality, two from municipalities, three from sub-metropolitan cities, and four from metropolitan cities. Delegates will be included at the rate of three from the provincial contact department and one each from the district contact department.

In the last House of Representatives election, the runner-up from RSP and those on the proportional list will be delegates. Similarly, those who were runner-up in the 2079 House of Representatives election and were active in the party from the proportional closed list will also be delegates. Those who are not members of the central committee but are members of the House of Representatives will also be delegates.

The inaugural session will be held at the Guest House Chaur in Bharatpur on Sunday, while the closed session will be held at the Industry Association's exhibition center. Party Chairman Ravi Lamichhane and other leaders have already arrived in Chitwan for the general convention. Prime Minister and senior party leader Balen Shah is scheduled to arrive in Chitwan on Sunday itself.
