New Book 'Unmad: Fascism Manthan' by Rajendra Maharjan Released

Kathmandu. Author and political analyst Rajendra Maharjan's new book 'Unmad: Fascism Manthan' has been released in the market. 

This book, which analyzes fascism, Nazism, collective madness, white supremacy, and contemporary populist politics, includes writings from three decades that have been revised and re-edited. 

At the beginning of the book, the author discusses the meaning of the word fascism, its historical development, and its various forms seen from the twentieth century to the twenty-first century. Based on the discussions by various scholars on how to identify fascism, its main tendencies have been identified. 

Divided into various sections, this book analyzes the psychology of collective madness, Italian fascism and German Nazism, the rise of Adolf Hitler, the Holocaust and the reasons for the expansion of Nazi influence in German society, the historicity of fascism and its relationship with capitalism, white supremacy and the American political structure, and the Palestine-Israel conflict. It also discusses the fascist tendencies seen within Nepali politics and society. 

Author Maharjan stated that the book is not a 'monograph' but an effort over various periods to build an ideological perspective that can recognize fascist ideas and behavior. 'Further study and discussion are necessary to dissect fascism,' he mentioned in the book's preface. 

Maharjan's previous books include 'Che Guevara', 'Samajbad ko Sapana' and 'Silu Mye ra Samajik Pratirodh'. He has also edited 'Mulyankan', 'Nav Yuva Masik', 'Vikas Patrika', 'Rupantaran: Samaj Adhyayan Journal', and 'Madhesh Adhyayan Journal'. 

Published at a time when the influence of right-wing nationalism, religious polarization, and populist politics is increasing worldwide, 'Unmad: Fascism Manthan' is expected to further expand the discussion on fascism in the Nepali language.
