Rastriya Swatantra Party National Convention Expected to Draw 7,000 Attendees Amidst Heat Concerns

Kathmandu. An estimated 7,000 people are expected to participate in the first National Convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP). Leaders, cadres, representatives, and well-wishers from across the country are continuing to arrive in Chitwan for the convention, which will be held in Bharatpur, Chitwan from Asar 7 to 9.

The organizing committee has stated that the extreme heat may affect daily life. The Meteorological Forecasting Division reported that the temperature in the Bharatpur area reached 34 degrees Celsius on Friday. According to the division, the temperature could rise to 35-36 degrees Celsius by Asar 9.

In view of the heat in Chitwan, the organizing committee has advised participants to bring drinking water, umbrellas, and light clothing. It has also been requested to use as few vehicles as possible to facilitate traffic management.

To make the convention organized, RSP has formed 18 sub-committees. General Secretary Bhupadev Shah informed that further decisions will be taken by the joint meeting of the sub-committees. 'We are reaching Chitwan. We will intensify the management work by holding meetings of all sub-committees,' he said.

Meanwhile, as daily life is expected to be affected by the extreme heat, the Health Services Sub-committee led by Dr. Tosima Karki has been making necessary preparations. The committee includes Dr. Chanda Karki Bhandari, Dr. Prabhat Adhikari, Dr. Lekhjung Thapa, Ranzu Darshana, and Namita Yadav.

Coordinator Karki's personal secretary Rita Thapa informed that approximately 7,000 representatives and well-wishers are estimated to attend the convention, and accordingly, camp management, health desks, ambulances, health workers, and medical supplies have been kept on standby.

'The heat has increased significantly. To ensure that convention representatives, well-wishers, and other attendees are not affected by the heat, we have formed a team and are working. We urge everyone to contact the health desk immediately if there are any problems,' Thapa said. 

More than three thousand representatives alone are estimated to attend the convention. According to Housing and Food Management Coordinator Rajan Gautam, most representatives and observers have already booked hotels. It is estimated that more than three thousand hotel rooms in Chitwan will be occupied during the convention.

Targeting the participants, the Hotel Association Chitwan and Regional Hotel Association Chitwan have arranged special discounts. Discounts of up to 25 percent on accommodation and up to 10 percent on food and beverages will be provided. According to Gautam, the convention opening ceremony is planned to be held at Guesthouse Chaur. The closed session will be held at the Nepal Industry Association's exhibition hall, he informed.
