Chief Administrative Officer Yadav Charged with Bribery

Kathmandu. The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority has filed a charge sheet against Shridev Yadav, the Chief Administrative Officer of Sonama Rural Municipality in Mahottari, at the Special Court, Kathmandu today.

A case has been filed against him on the charge of taking a bribe of Rs 72,000 from a service recipient during the process of payment after the road surfacing plan was completed.

According to the commission, Officer Yadav, despite the work being completed as per the contract, harassed the service recipient with various pretexts and demanded a bribe. Based on that information, a team dispatched from the Bardibas office of the CIAA had apprehended him red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 72,000.

During the investigation, it was confirmed that Yadav had committed an offense under Section 3, Sub-section 1 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059, the CIAA stated.

The commission has registered a case at the Special Court demanding a penalty equal to the bribe amount of Rs 72,000 and imprisonment, spokesperson Suresh Neupane informed.
