Roads Blocked Across Nepal Due to Floods and Landslides

Kathmandu. Main highways and road sections in various provinces of the country have been obstructed due to floods and landslides caused by continuous rain. According to the latest details, some roads in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces are completely blocked, while some places have only one-way traffic.

The Mechi Highway is completely blocked in Rajduwali, Mai Municipality-9, Ilam district due to continuous rain. Similarly, on the Mid-Hill Highway in Bokhim, Bhojpur Municipality-5, Bhojpur, the road has been affected by floods, but traffic is currently operating one-way using an alternative route.

Bagmati Province's main roads have been most affected. Traffic has been stopped on the Khurkot-Nepalethok-Katuñjebesi section of the BP Highway in Kavre due to flood risk. Similarly, there are obstructions at two places on the Kanti Lokpath. This road section is completely blocked due to landslides in Bhimphedi Rural Municipality-8, Hetauda, Makwanpur, and due to continuous rain in Pandu, Bagmati Rural Municipality-3, Lalitpur.

On the Kaligandaki Corridor, the road in Belbaga, Jaimini Municipality-8, Baglung has been completely blocked due to a landslide. In the Poudi section of the same Kaligandaki Corridor in Gulmi district, Lumbini Province, traffic has been resumed one-way after clearing the landslide.

In Karnali, the Bheri Corridor and internal roads have been affected. The Bheri Corridor is completely blocked in Rijegard, Athbiskot-6, Rukum Paschim due to floods. Similarly, the internal road section connecting Triveni in Til Rural Municipality-3, Jumla to Tatopani-7, 8, Tatamati is also blocked due to landslides.

The Department of Roads and security agencies are making efforts to clear the blocked roads.
