Speaker Aryal and Bangladesh Ambassador Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

Kathmandu. The Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal, His Excellency Mo. Shofiqur Rahman, paid a courtesy call on Speaker Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal. On the occasion, Speaker Aryal stated that Nepal-Bangladesh relations are based on universal equality, mutual respect, and trust, and that Nepal attaches great importance to its relations with Bangladesh.

Speaker Aryal congratulated the government formed on the basis of the mandate received from the people of Bangladesh and wished them a successful tenure for the service of the people and the progress and prosperity of the country. He also mentioned that a new government has been formed in Nepal after the successful completion of elections, and expressed confidence that the cooperation between the governments of both countries will be further strengthened, and various dimensions of bilateral relations will reach new heights.

In the meeting, Speaker Aryal praised the economic and physical development achieved by Bangladesh and expressed the view that Bangladesh's good practices could be useful in Nepal's development journey. "Cooperation between Nepal and Bangladesh will significantly contribute to the happiness, prosperity, and welfare of the people of both countries," he said. 

Speaker Aryal mentioned that the increasing cooperation in the field of sports has also brought the relationship between the peoples of the two countries closer, stating that friendship, contact, and mutual understanding among the youth have been enhanced through sports such as football, cricket, and volleyball. He also expressed the expectation that relations will be further strengthened through tourism, cultural exchange, and people-to-people contact in the coming days.

During the meeting, discussions were also held on various issues of education, health, agriculture, climate change, and regional cooperation. Speaker Aryal particularly praised the contribution of Nepali students studying in medical education and other technical subjects.

Discussing the common challenges of climate change, Speaker Aryal mentioned that the environmental risks in the Himalayan region and the problems in the coastal areas are common concerns for both countries.

On the occasion, Ambassador Rahman stated that Nepal and Bangladesh face similar challenges in the fields of climate change, natural disasters, development, and economic transformation. He said that it is necessary to make cooperation, experience sharing, and partnership between the two countries more effective to solve these common problems.

Ambassador Rahman also said that the Bangladesh government is positive about further expanding the existing cooperation between Nepal and Bangladesh in the fields of energy, trade, tourism, education, health, and people-to-people relations. He pointed out the need to make South Asian regional cooperation more effective and work together on issues of common interest.
