MP Bishnubahadur Bishwakarma Draws Attention to Karnali Corridor Road Reconstruction and Wildlife Threats

Kathmandu. Nepali Communist Party (NCP) MP Bishnubahadur Bishwakarma has drawn the government's attention to the immediate reconstruction of the Karnali Corridor and various road sections in Kalikot that have been obstructed due to recent continuous rainfall.

Speaking at the National Assembly meeting on Friday, he demanded that the government solve the problems of the people of Karnali who are suffering due to natural disasters and wildlife attacks.

Due to heavy rainfall in the Kalikot region on the nights of Jestha 26 and 27, landslides have occurred in various places, completely halting transportation services. Due to landslides, the section from Lalighat to Bhautekuna in Narharinath Rural Municipality of Kalikot under the Karnali Corridor, the Regil section of Sannitribeni, and the Ghatpari section of Pachajharana are completely obstructed. It has been informed in the parliament that the post-rain landslides and floods have caused significant damage to local road infrastructure, pathways, and the farmland of the general public.

Presenting the details of the physical and agricultural damage caused by the floods and landslides, MP Bishwakarma said, 'Due to continuous rainfall in Kalikot on Jestha 26 and 27, the maize crop planted in all wards of Narharinath Rural Municipality in Kalikot has been destroyed. Farmlands, pathways, and roads have all been destroyed by landslides. I want to draw the government's attention to rebuilding the damaged roads and pathways.' He urged the government to take seriously the destruction of farmers' crops and the hardships faced by locals due to damaged roads.

He also raised the issue of wildlife threats adding to the plight of Kalikot, which is already grappling with natural disasters. Presenting the incident in parliament where local citizen Netrabahadur Shahi was seriously injured in a tiger attack near the Karnali Highway, he demanded that the government ensure the security of the citizens' lives and property.

He said, 'Netrabahadur Shahi has been injured in a tiger attack near the Karnali Highway. I want to draw the government's attention to capturing the attacking tiger and creating a safe environment for the people there.'

MP Bishwakarma urged the government to immediately capture the tiger that is causing fear in the villages and to make necessary arrangements for the treatment of the injured and the security of the local residents.
