Riyan Parag Undergoes Successful Shoulder Surgery

New Delhi. Young Indian cricket team batsman Riyan Parag's right shoulder has undergone surgery. After the successful surgery, he will now be in a rehabilitation process for some time before returning to the field. There is no clear information yet about how long Riyan Parag's rehabilitation process will take and when he will fully recover and return to the field.

Parag was appointed vice-captain of the India 'A' team for the 50-over tri-series currently underway in Sri Lanka. However, he was ruled out of the series due to a hamstring problem before the series began. Ruturaj Gaikwad replaced him in the team.

Parag had been suffering a lot from this hamstring problem since playing for Rajasthan Royals during the second half of IPL 2026. Due to the injury, he had to miss an important match against Lucknow Super Giants.

He returned to the field in the final and decisive match of the league stage against Mumbai Indians. Parag later revealed that he played the match for the team even though he was not fully fit. He also played the Eliminator and Qualifier 2 matches for Rajasthan, where it was clearly visible that he was very uncomfortable while running between wickets.

Parag had indicated through his Instagram post that this shoulder problem has been present for a long time. This injury first appeared during IPL 2025, and since then, he had been managing it in coordination with the medical team of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Although surgery was an option from the beginning, doctors advised that it could be postponed for some time as long as the injury did not affect his game. Finally, after consulting with the BCCI medical team, Parag decided to undergo surgery on his shoulder.
