Elderly Woman Found Dead in Rautahat Field

Rautahat. An elderly woman from Narkatiya village, Paroha Municipality-7 in the southern part of Rautahat, has been found dead.< /p>

Local Dipnarayan Patel's 70-year-old wife, Lakhpatiya Devi, was found dead in a field near a canal on the outskirts of the village on Friday morning while she had gone to look at the fields, the police said.< /p>

Following the incident, locals suspect that her gold jewelry may have been looted and she may have been murdered by strangulation. The village has been plunged into mourning since the news of the elderly woman's death spread.< /p>

DSP Basanta Gautam, spokesperson for the District Police Office Rautahat, told Ratopati that although blood was seen flowing from the victim's nose, no other injuries were found on her body. He informed that the suspicion from locals is that the gold nose stud worn by the deceased is not in her nose.< /p>

'The body has been sent to the Provincial Hospital Gaur for postmortem. The actual cause of the incident will be revealed only after the postmortem report is received,' informed spokesperson Gautam.< /p>

The police have stated that they have started the necessary investigation into the incident. The police statement says that it is not yet possible to confirm whether the death was due to robbery, murder, or any other reason.< /p>
