Weather Forecast: Widespread Rain Expected Across Nepal

Kathmandu. According to the weather forecast of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the weather across the country is expected to be cloudy today. 

Looking at the weather details of major cities, there is a possibility of rain in almost all places this afternoon and night. The weather forecast mentions that there will be moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning in most places and light rain in some places.

According to the afternoon weather forecast today, there is a possibility of rain in almost all cities. Specifically, Pokhara has the highest probability of rain in the afternoon, at 60 percent, which is the highest in the country. In most other areas such as Dadeldhura, Dipayal, Birendranagar, Jumla, Bhairahawa, Simara, Kathmandu, Okhaldhunga, Dhankuta, Biratnagar, Dharan, Janakpur, Jiri, and Taplejung, there is a 40 percent chance of rain in the afternoon. 

However, in Dhangadhi, Nepalgunj, Ghorahi, and Jomsom, the probability of rain is slightly lower, only 20 to 30 percent. In most places where rain is expected in the afternoon, there will be rain with thunderstorms and lightning.

Looking at the temperature situation, the heat will continue in the Terai districts today. The maximum temperature in Dhangadhi and Nepalgunj is estimated to be the highest in the country today, reaching 35 to 37 degrees Celsius. Similarly, the maximum temperature in Dipayal will be 34 to 36 degrees Celsius and in Birendranagar, it will be 32 to 34 degrees Celsius. However, the temperature will be lower in cities in the hilly and Himalayan regions. 

Today, the maximum temperature in Jomsom is forecasted to be between 20 to 22 degrees Celsius, in Jiri between 21 to 23 degrees Celsius, and in Jumla between 22 to 24 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in the federal capital Kathmandu will be 25 to 27 degrees Celsius today.

Tonight, the weather across the country will remain cloudy, similar to the daytime. Tonight, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning in most cities across the country. The probability of rain in almost all areas tonight is between 30 to 40 percent. 

Tonight, the lowest temperature will be in Jomsom between 10 to 12 degrees Celsius and in Jumla between 11 to 13 degrees Celsius. In Terai cities like Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, Biratnagar, Dharan, etc., the minimum temperature is forecasted to be around 23 to 25 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature in Kathmandu will be 18 to 20 degrees Celsius.
