Meat shops warned for lack of sanitary practices

Bhaktapur –Meat shops operated inside the Bhaktapur Municipality have failed to meet even minimum sanitation and hygiene practices. 


A market monitoring team from the local government today monitored nine meat shops here and they were found dirty and failing to maintain minimum standard.

 
As stated by municipality's market monitoring committee coordinator Raj Krishna Gora, such meat shops were so dirty. During the monitoring, the team reached the New Mahalaxmi Cold Store, Siddhiganesh Meat Shop, a shop owned by Ram

Krishna Shahi, Mahima Cold Store, a fish store, Shubhani Cold Store, Bhaktapur Cold Store, Karya Binyak Meat Shop and a meat shop owned by Laxmi Shahi. "They have dirty abattoirs, have not acquired shop registration certificates, and are not following other sanitary practices while handling meat", he said. The team asked their proprietors to use digitalised weighing machines, display price list and keep the shops neat and clean. ---
