Tanahun Municipality Distributes 50% Subsidized Agricultural Equipment to Farmers

Tanahun. Bhanu Municipality-9 has distributed agricultural equipment to farmers at a fifty percent subsidy as per the approved program for the current fiscal year 2082/83. The equipment was distributed based on the demand of farmers within the ward with the objective of modernizing the agricultural sector, reducing production costs, and attracting farmers towards commercial farming.

Under the program, 14 mini tillers, 10 combined mills, four 'spray machines', and four grass-cutting machines have been distributed, informed Ward Chairman Min Gurung. He stated that such equipment used in agricultural work is believed to help save farmers' labor, time, and costs.

Currently, due to the lack of manpower in the agricultural sector, the increase in production costs, and the traditional farming system, many farmers are becoming discouraged from the farming profession. Keeping these challenges in mind, the ward office has launched a subsidy program to make agriculture technology-friendly, production-oriented, and commercial, said Ward Chairman Gurung. He said, "It is expected that farmers will be able to do more work in less time through the use of modern equipment, reduce production costs, and increase production."

According to Ward Chairman Gurung, connecting farmers with modern agricultural equipment is the need of the hour, hence efforts have been initiated to make them technology-friendly. "Farming using traditional methods increases costs and requires more labor, leading farmers to become discouraged. To change this situation and make agriculture easy, simple, and production-oriented, the ward office has distributed machinery at a 50 percent subsidy," he said.

Ward Chairman Gurung urged farmers to make proper use of the distributed equipment, stating that the use of modern technology is essential to increase agricultural production, improve income, and attract youth to the agricultural sector. Farmers who received the equipment are enthusiastic about the ward office's initiative. Farmers have expressed confidence that the use of modern equipment will make farming easier, reduce costs, and increase production.
