Ward Chairman and 5 Others Arrested for Gambling in Rukum West

Rukum West. A ward chairman and 6 gamblers have been arrested in Rukum West. Among those arrested are ward chairman of Triveni Rural Municipality—4, 47-year-old Nannaram Batha, 48-year-old Kamal Pun of Musikot Municipality—11, and 44-year-old Dillibahadur Gharti of Triveni—5.

Similarly, 30-year-old Shiva Bibash Ghartimagar and Nand Kumar Ghartimagar from the same place, and 40-year-old Man Bahadur Bohora of Triveni—2 are included.

According to a press release issued by Rukum West Police, they were arrested based on secret information that gambling was taking place at the house of Bimalbahadur Khadka in Lamakhet, Triveni Rural Municipality—4, at around 2 AM on Friday. A team of 6 police personnel led by Police Inspector Hemanta Giri from Simrut Police Post raided the location and recovered Rs 167,105 in cash, one deck of opened playing cards, and one deck of unopened playing cards from the gambling den.

All those arrested have been sent to the District Police Office, Rukum West, for further investigation and action.
