Birgunj Border Sees 15% Drop in Food Grain Imports in 10 Months

Birgunj. Food grains worth Rs 20.79 billion have been imported through the Birgunj border in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year.

Compared to the same period in the last fiscal year, imports through this border have decreased by Rs 3.87 billion, or 15 percent, in the current fiscal year, informed Udaysingh Bisht, Information Officer at the Birgunj Customs Office.

In the first 10 months of the last fiscal year, 16 types of food grains worth Rs 24.66 billion were imported through here.

In the current fiscal year, paddy worth Rs 10.94 billion, maize worth Rs 5.31 billion, and rice worth Rs 2.85 billion have been imported. Similarly, malt worth Rs 590 million and buckwheat, millet, and other food grains worth Rs 330 million have been imported, informed Information Officer Bisht.
