Trump Comments on Potential Iranian Defeat and Media Portrayal

Kathmandu. US President Donald Trump, commenting on Iran's potential military defeat and the subsequent political interpretations, claimed that even if Iran surrendered completely, US political opponents and some media could portray it as 'Iran's victory'.

In a lengthy statement made on social media on Monday (local time), President Trump presented a hypothetical scenario where Iran's navy and air force were destroyed, its army retreated from Tehran, and all soldiers surrendered their weapons. He alleged that even in such a situation, critics would misinterpret the event.

He stated that even if Iran's leadership signed all the necessary 'surrender documents' and accepted the power of the United States, Democrats and some media would likely present it differently from reality.

He elaborated in his post, citing the example of Iran's entire military structure being finished, its army retreating, and acknowledging a complete defeat on the battlefield. He reiterated his claim that even in such a situation, opponents would twist the meaning of the event.

President Trump also criticized the US media, accusing some news outlets of distorting the situation. He said that critics could potentially portray a clear defeat as 'Iran's victory'.

He specifically targeted Democrats, referring to them as 'Dumocrats'. He accused some media outlets of failing to understand the reality of the conflict.

Trump named media organizations such as The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and CNN, claiming they would use wrong headlines and offer interpretations different from reality. He commented that such media organizations are becoming 'irrelevant'.

Meanwhile, President Trump also gave optimistic signals about ongoing diplomatic efforts in the Middle East. He expressed expectations that a deal to extend the ceasefire with Tehran and resume shipping through strategic maritime routes in the region could happen 'within the next week'.

Speaking to ABC News, he said that some points still needed final agreement on the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding the resumption of shipping routes. 'I still have some points to get,' he was quoted as saying.

Earlier on Monday, Trump had claimed that negotiations with Tehran were progressing rapidly, mentioning ongoing diplomatic dialogue on the social media platform 'Truth Social'.

However, it is reported that the situation remains unstable despite the latest diplomatic efforts. The temporary ceasefire established a few weeks ago has recently come under pressure due to incidents of counter-attacks. Concerns have grown that the tension seen between US and Iranian forces in recent days could weaken the ceasefire and disrupt the diplomatic process.
